AWAITING A PRETEXT. TO FIGHT ENTENTE ARMY. Received 9.20 PARIS, Jan. 8. M. Diomede, formerly Minister in the Venizelos Cabinet, now on a mission to England and France on behalf of the National Government, declares that Major Falkenhausen, German attache, controls the Greek staff, which is only awaiting the order to attack the Entente army. Falkenhausen only wants a pretext. Constantino still has 75,000 troops, and his activity is being exerted in preparing to fight the Entente. GOVERNMENT STILL PLAYING FOR TIME. LONDON, Jan 7. The "Daily Chronicle's" Athens correspondent says it is expected that the Government's reply to the Entente note will be inconclusive with a view to gaining time. The Allies have completed preparations to leave events and the blockade to take their course. Royalist papers continue to urge the Government not to accept the note, fearing that Venizelos will be installed'when the troops are removed. ; GREEK NOTE TO THE ENTENTE. LONDON, Jan. 8. The "Morning Post's" Athens corre- . says the Greek Government on Saturday handed a memorandum to the Entente representatives embodying their objections to the demands made on December 31, indicating the necessity for the greater protection of Old Greece against Venizelist ambitions.
