ON THE SEA.
MORE VESSELS SUBMARINED. LONDON, Jan. 4. The British steamer Buy Craig, the small Norwegian steamer Ellik, and the French sailer Leen have been sunk by the enemy. TORPEDOING SPANISH SHIPS. SPANISH PRESS INDIGNANT. Received 9.30. MADRID, Jan 5. The torpedoing of three Spanish ships off Belboa, and the blockade of that port by German submarines has evoked strong press protests. The Government is charged with weakness, cowardice, and the inability to protect Spanish interests. THE SUBMARINE CAMPAIGN. A REBUFF TO HOLLWEG. Received 9.30. ZURICH, Jan 5. The Kaiser has given an audience to Herr Zimmerman at headquarters, and received a report as to America's attitude towards the submarine campaign which Ambassador Gerard has communicated to the German Government. The fact that the Kaiser summoned Zimmerman instead of Chancellor Bethmann Hollweg is consider ed a smack to the latter. Zimmerman iavours frightfulness. STILL ANOTHER CRIME. LONDON, Jan. 5. The Admiralty reports a further in .stance of the callous disrgeard of tho lives of non-combatants. A German wireless on November 9 reported the torpedoing of the North Wales. Nothing has been seen or hoard of the vessel since beyond a piece of wood, marked "North Wales," which w r as found in Sennen Cove, and some bodies stranded on the Cornish coast. It is presumed that the crow took to the boats, and, owing to the prevalent gales, were drowned. Submarine sinkings include the Greek vessels Dimitri,- Osgoulandris, Tristotiiis and Isanon; the Spanish vessel San Loandro, and the Norwegian vessel Odda Borre. A TRANSPORT SUNK. FOUR OFFICERS AND 146 SOLDIERS MISSING. LONDON. Jan. i. The Admiralty reports: The transport Iveniia was submarined during bad weather in the Mediterranean on Monday. Four, military officers and L-K5 men are missing. The ship's casualties arc unknown, but it is hoped they are only light. The surgeon and chief engineer are missing. I,ATER PARTIC ULARS. LONDON, Jan. 4. Later details of the sinking of trtc Ivornia show that 120 soldiers and 33 aoamen are missing;. Received 11 a.m. LONDON, Jan 5. Further sinkings: Thiropanus (Greek), and Helgoy (Norwegian).
