The High Commissioner's market report for the week is as follows: Meat. —For all descriptions or frozen meat there is an active demand, owing to the short supplies of home-killed mutton and beef, as the result of the railway communication being interrup. ted. Butter.—The market is quiet. Cheese. —Th e market continues firm* with but little business. white and coloured, per cwt, 132/- tc 134/-; English Cheddar 136/- to 140/Dutch cheddar, 12S/- to 132/-. All the cheese ex Turakina has been commandeered by the Imperial Government. Hemp. —The market is very quiet, and no business has been done on account of the holidays. Prices are wcl maintained. Oats. —The market is firm, with goot demand. . . Wool. —Cannot give quotations during the present condition of;the market. WOOL, CHEESE, AND SHEEPSKINS. The Hon MacDonald, Minister fo Agriculture, stated to-night that en be half of the Imperial Government, th New Zealand Government bad mad the cheese producers an offer oi 91 pr lb, i'.o.b. in the Dominion. At conference to-day the producer agreed to accept the offer, subject t certain terms which had been cable home, and a reply is expected thi week. '•The proposal," said the Ministe "is to buy on shipment, up to a ce tain pome at any rate, but details ai still being considered." With regard to wheat, the Hon. Ma Donald stated that he does not e>:pec to have the whole of the proposal completed before the end of th j week. "We should have been save a lot of trouble," he said, "if peopl had waited till our offer was made t farmers, instead of rushing at one into print, and wasting a lot or in and good white paper, far as th main clip is concerned," the Ministe advised, "everything is now goin well. Wool valuers are all at worl but we could do with more skiupin space. We are going to take override pelts and skins, and I am to meet th fellmongers to-morrow to discuss th question of sheepskins and pelts.
