EVXIRYEODY'S. ''The Arrival of Perpetua":—Perpetua is a rich little girl, au orphan, with a guardian very much older than herself. This man is an absent-minded dreamer, unaware of his responsibility to Perpetua. The girl wanted to live in her guardian's house, but instead went to her, father's half sister % Miss Majcrdie, an angular spinster of <>o, with a predilection for monkeys, parrots, cats and dogs. Perpetua is not happy in this antique environment, so sh e runs away and forces herself on Thaddeus. The pretty girl is pursued by .several suitors, whose ardour cools when she is said to be not worth a cent. And here the moody guardian steps in. He has loved the girl, but her wealth has prevented him from declaring his affection for her,. But now that she is poor he does not hesitate to offer liimself. In a story of this character it i s obvious that the refined artistry of Miss Martin finds adequate scope. This beautiful girl shines in every film in which she is seen, but when the entire framework of the play has been especially designed for her, her pleasing personality stands out all the more markedlv and distinctlv
THESE STARS.
The new programme shown lsfst night was witnessed by a packed house, and it will be shown again to-night for the last time, when some new pictures will be introduced. In the star drama, "The White Hope," there is one of the finest exhibitions of boxing ever screened here. To readers familiar with the six Hepworth actors, it is not necessary to discuss the work of Stewart Rome, Violet Hopson, Lionel Howard and Chrissie White. The boxing secnes have the unqualified approval of George Gunther (who himself takes the part of the black champion), and that of course means that there is real fighting properly handled. The Chaplin comedy, ' 'The Fireman,'' is one of Charlie 's best. To-mor.row night will be shown the London Film Company's great drama, "The Third Generation"
