SPECIAL CATTLE SALE

HIGH PRICES REALISED. The Taihape Cattle Fair held yesterday, was one of the largest, if not the largest, and most successful cattle sales ever held in this district. The entries were both numerous and high class, most of the leading stock-breed-ers of this district being represented. Despite the hugeness of the entries almost every beast sold at good prices. The attendance of buyers was large, and it is doubtful whether ever such, an array of motor cars has ever been witnessed in Taihape. Bidding was brisk, but despite this salesmen were kept genuinely busy until well on to six o'clock. Good forward cows fetched up to £l4 7s 6d; empty heifers sold at correspondingly good prices. Extra line fat bullocks brought up to £23; fats. £l9 16/6. Three-year bullocks realised up lo £ls 15s; two year steers, to Cl2; yearling to lomonth steers up to £9. The success of this sale augurs well for the future of Taihape as a stock sale centre. Dalgety and Co. Ltd., and the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., report having held a very successful cattle fair at Taihape on December 13, over 1400 beiug yarded, most of which was (piitted at ruling prices. Prices were as follows: Forward cows £lO to £ll 2/6; fat cows £l2 11/ to £l4 3/6; cows and calves £9 10/ to £l3 2/; special good lines £l4 7/6. Three-year heifers empty, £l3 13/6: 2-year heifers £9 tOJ £10: 15-month heifers £4 10/ to £S;] extra good lines £8 10/ to £9 12/6. Extra -heavy forward bullocks, 23/;' fat bullocks £l9 -7 to £l9 16/6; fat and forward bullocks: £lO 17/ to £lB IS/; 3-year bullocks £l4 11/ to £ls 15/: 2-year steer,?. £7 to £10; good lines £l* to £l2.
