MR LLOYD GEORGE'S HEALTH IMPROVED. Received 11.45 LONDON, Dec 12. The Prime Minister is much bettor, but has been ordered to remain indoors for a couple of days.

NEW CABINET MINISTERS.

MR ARTHUR HENDERSON. Born in 1863 y at Glasgow, Mr Henderson served an apprenticeship in the iron works of Messrs Robert Stephenson and. Co., at Newcastle. He took an active part in municipal affairs at Newcastle and Darlington. Mr Darlington entered Parliament in 1903, and became chairman of the Parliamentary Labour party five years later. He was a member of the Railway Commission and Industrial Council in 1911. He was President of the jjoard of Education in the late Coalition Ministry. LORD MILNER. Viscount Milner was formerly Governor of Transvaal and Orange River Colony, and High Commissioner of South 'Africa. He had prior to this seen service in the Egyptian Administration. He established the British system of administration in the new South African colonies after the war, and greatly promoted their development.

ZEPPELIN CASUALTIES. Received 11.15 LONDON, Dec. 12. The casualties of the air raid on Nov. 27 are one man and three women killed, sixteen men, fourteen women and seven children injured.

I POTATO CROP IN GERMANY.

A COMPLETE FAILURE. Received 11.45 'AMSTERDAM. Dec. 12. Food plans in Germany for the current year are badly wrecked owing- to the almost complete failure of the po- | tato crop, and only twenty-one million i tons have been harvested, against fiftyj one millions in 1915. An order has been , issued reducing potato flour rations.

CRIME IN BRITAIN.

A DECREASE. Received 11.45 LONDON, Dec. J2. It is officially stated that the Old Bailey record of crime shows a further decrease. Bigamy has increased, owing to soldiers' separated wives allianeing others in order to secure the separation allowance. ■■■■
