I DESIRE to lake the opportunity of Thanking the Officers and men ol the Taihape Fire Brigade for their strenuous efforts in endeavouring to save my property, occupied by Mr. and Mrs Sutherland, although in this case their efforts were of no avail, | through no fault of their own. They 1 were the means of preventing the flames from spreading to the rest of the property, and I feel sure that given an ample water supply and the best of fire-fighting appliances, the Brigade may he relied on to do whatever men are capable of. 1 must also express my regret to Mr. and Mrs. Sutherland, who are very heavy losers.—l am, etc., CHARLES GIVEN.
