AMUSEMENTS.

EVERYBODY’S. Perfection in pictures is the keynote of success of Everybody’s this week, where to-night one of the finest dramatic programmes is being screened. The star feature is a 5-actdrama entitled “Behind the Scenes, ing Mary Pickford, the of the screen. It is a fascinating play that contrasts the drama of life with the glamour of the stage. Supporting thisleading feature is a varied selection of entertaining studies, among which is a laughable Keystone comedy called “Fatty Again.”

To-morrow night a benefit picturenight will be given in the interests of the Women’s Working Club. The star picture for the night is one of the latest Red Feather productions, presenting Violet Merserau in “Autumn,” five sensational acts full of thrills and romance from start to finish. The assured excellence of the programme, as well as the fact that the proceeds arefor the comforts for soldiers, should guarantee a packed house. THREE STARS. | [ There be a complete chaige of ! programme at this theatre to-night. The brilliant Edison masterpiece in five acts, entitled “The Innocence of Ruth,” in which the favourite little actress Viola Dana is starred, will be screened. There is no need to enlarge on tfie capabilities and personal charm of Miss Dana. The story of the play moves through many phases of emotion, from the merry pranks of the schoolgirl, and the sweetness and innocence of the young woman to the bitter awakening of the soul besmirched by scandal and compromise. Many powerful dramatic episodes enable Miss Dana to reach heights of passion and power hitherto unsuspected. A fine supporting programme Includes the “Pathe Gazette,” a bright and clever comedy, and further scenes of “Anzac Day,” both in London and Syd ney. There will also be shown in connection with the above that fine comedy, featuring John Bunny in “Father’s Flirtation.” PAUL DUFAULT’S FAREWELL. The farewell concert, which the management wish to emphasise is Mr. Dufault’s positively final appearance here will be given at the Town Hall, Taihape on Wednesday, December 6. Owing to the great success of Mr. Dufault’s previous concert here, a big demand for seats is anticipated. There is little doubt that if Paul Dufault had not won success as a singer he would have achieved it as an actor, for his dramatic ability comes very close to genius. He infuses it into every song he sings, making e”ach a page of human history, a bit of real life seen in camera, and as such it makes its instant appeal and receives its instant response. The Sydney “Daily, Telegraph” says of Paul Dufault's singing: “It seems to be coloured by a wide, sane outlook on life and the. world; a love of the sun and the stars, the flowers and the dew, the earth and the sea.” It is this humanness in his songs that is undoubtedly one of the greatest factors in Mr. Dufault’s success. The box plan is at Mr. Cochran’s Piano Depot, and an early application is necessary if a seat in a favourable position is desired. ■ l ■ "" - - - \
