“DOING THE SIGHTS.”

Nine Australian soldiers, who said they had come a long way, and as strangers wanted to see a bit of the old town before going to France, were charged at Hampstead Heath with being absentees. They were arrested at Hampstead Heath in batches. One said he had had a “high old time” in Scotland, and another that he had a few shillings and intended spending them before going back. They were remanded to await an escort, after the magistrate had thanked the men for coming oven to fight for the Old Country.
