COMMANDEERED WOOL.
BROKERS AND BUYERS CONFER. The -RtooL-brokers ;and wool-buyers met in conference again at Parliament Buildings on Thursday, and agreed to set up committees to discuss valuation points with regard to the services they are going to offer in connection with the Imperial Government's intention to commandeer the current season's wool clip. The Minister for Agriculture (the Hon W. D. S. McDonald) said that, at his request, a board set up by the Minister of Munitions (the Hon Arthurflyers) had discussed with the brokers' conference the rates proposed to be charged by them for their services, and the question was also being considered by a special committee. The Minister stated that the wool valuers had submitted several proposals to him, and a special committee had been set up to deal with this phase of the question. So far as the wool growers were concerned, the matter had been practically settled, and as soon as an agreement had been come to with the wool brokers and valuers, the whole machinery of the scheme could be set in motion. The difficulties with r-egarC to wool on hand and fellmongers' skins would require separate treatment, and they might not be fully settled before the end of the week.
