SEVERE THUNDERSTORM.
AN EXTRAORDINARY VISITATION. DUNEDIN, Nov 20. An unprecedentedly severe thunderstorm burst over Coal Creek on Saturday, and continued for about an hour. Jagged lumps of ice, of the size of ordinary marbles, fell, and almost stripped fruit trees of young fruit and leaves. The hills on each side of the valley were covered with hail, in some cases a foot in depth. What fruit is. left will be of little value. An estimate of the damage cannot yet be made, but it is very considerable. One «TOwer alone estimates that his loss -will reach four figures. Several houses were flooded by water caused by melting hail, coupled with the rain, considerably swelling the streams flowing down the valley.
