WOMEN'S WORKING CLUB.
SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the Taihape Women's Working Club Committee was held in the Club rooms on Saturday. November 18, at 8.30 p.m.- when the following members were present: Mrs. Shute (chair), Mrs. Dr. Boyd. Rev. Minifie, Miss Gilbert, Mesdames McAuliffe, Turnbull, Miller, Mau'i, De Lacey, Smith, McLennan, Knox, Burtenshaw, and Miss McAuliffe (hon sec). This special meeting was called for the purpose of considering the necessity of raising meney to send to England and Egypt for the benefit of our N.Z. boys in the hospitals and convalescent homes. It has been reported that our boys are needing the small comforts which are so often necessary for their 7 speedy recovery, and it was thought if a big effort on the part of the Women's Working Club was made, and special days set aside during this week, we- might by shop sales of goods of all kinds, and by street collections from Wednesday to Saturday be able to raise a good sum of money We would thus be enabled ta send a portion to each of the matrons of the different hospitals where our N.Z. boys are. It was proposed by Mrs. Boyd and. seconded by Miss Gilbert that funds be raised for this purpose. The Committee decided to have the shop opened from Wednesday to Saturday to raise funds; also to have street collections and sales of flowers and sweets. The public are requested to supj ort this worthy object by sending along produce, cakes, flowers, and swee^. Mrs. Boyd was appointed to take c-harge of the street collections; Mrs. B'urtenshaw, sweets; Mesdames Miller and Turnbull, flowers. Another meeting is called for Monday night at 7.30, to make final arrangements.
