Mr. A. C. Nicholls .has received advice from the Defence Department that his son, Mr. W. H. A. Nicholls, ■who was all through the Egyptian and Gallipoli campaigns, is being invalided home, and that he will arrive in New Zealand by the Maheno on or about the 13th December. After doing considerable fighting in France with the New Zealand Division, Mr. Nicholls was attacked with asthma, which hospital treatment in England has not been able to rid him of. The young man expresses intense disappointment; he thinks the authorities might have sent him to Egypt, where he never experienced the slightest asthma trouble.
