JEWS IN THE RUSSIAN ARMY.

According to the official statistics published in the “Russki Invalid,” there are 500,000 Jews serving in the Russian army. Up to 31st December, 1915, no fewer than 123,000 had been killed, wounded, or captured by the enemy. As showing the bravery and distinction with which the Jews served, it is stated that no fewer than SGBI were awarded the Cross of St. George, while 11,374 received medals for distinguished conduct. Promotions .were made as follows: —Corporal, 1(5,192; sergeant, 10,307.; sergt-major, 121; lieutenant 12. Of the lieutenants eleven died on the battlefield, while the twelfth was seriously wounded and lost one of his legs.
