"OUR DAY"

RED CROSS APPEAL, \__ TAIHAPE, OCTOBER J>3, 1916. >aii In regard to the success at tended the efforts of the Red Cross Day Committee it is felt that acknow ledgment is due to many people ano societies outside the actual working committee The interim statement discloses the very satisfactory results, largelythrough the generosity pf the townspeople, who are continually being called on for patriotic purposes, and who as regularly respond. To the Band, the collectors, the taxi-drivers, tnc Orchestral Society, and the Rifle Club some recognition is due, and we heartily accord it. As for individuals, it is difficult to make a list that would do justice to the many who labourea in various ways to make the day success fill. Mr. Nicholls deserves special words of gratitude and Mr. Capill was willingness itself during at least four days.. Mr. Todd and Mr. Powell were a host in themselves in their arduous task during the afternoon, and +o the Rev. Father Connolly much credit is placed in keeping the competitions going. Mr. Gibbs and his joy rides were a particularly happy solution of the children problem, and a word of praise is due to him and his helpers. One can go on endlessly at this work of praising others, and the danger always exists of leaving it uncompleted, but so many still are left unrecorded that their very number precludes their right in taking offence. It is surely sufficient to know that success crowned all our efforts, the day v/as fine, the object worthy, the method happy, and the result laudable. W. F. STENT, Chairman of Committee. INTERIM STATEMENT OF RECEIPTS.
