FATAL RAILWAY ACCIDENT.

AT THE LOWER HUTT. SOLDIER CRUSHED BY TRAIN.. WELLINGTON, Nov. 1 Just before midnight an accident occurred at the Lower Hutt railway station by which Sergeant W R. MeViear, C. Company, 19th Reinforcements, lost his lit.?. The last troop train bound to Trentham was entering the station at reduced speed, preparatory to stopping, when McVicar attempted to board one of the carriage?. He missed his grip and foil between the platform and the carriages. The driver applied brakes promptly, but when McVicar was located he was found terribly mangled about the legs- and head, and death was almost instantaneous. Deceased is thought to be a married, man.
