RECRUITING.
The Defence authorities are making every endeavour to have the shortage for the 22nd Reinforcements made up, and arrangements have been made for men to leave Taihape on Wednesday next, the Ist inst, on Wednesday the Bth inst., and the 23rd Reinforcements will go into camp on the 13th inst. All those men who have been attested for the 23rd Reinforcements are being asked to leave here on Wednesday morning, and scarcely one has refused. These men who go into camp now will he granted special leave at Christmas time.
Staff Sergeant-Major Tuckey has been authorised to give his whole attention to recruiting and he intends to personally visit all the country districts to get recruits. All men who have been attested are asked to advise the Defence Office if they are able to go to Palmerston North on Wednesday and all intending recruits are asked to call at the Town Hall to enlist. The call is an urgent one and it is I to be hoped that Taihape will find the necessary number.
