AMUSEMENTS.
EVERYBODY’S. Last night’s new programme was a fine one, featuring Miss Clara Kimball Young, who made a very favourable impression in her first appearance here in “Hearts in Exile.” “The Deep Purple” is a five-act picture drama, full of stirring incidents unfolding the practices of a gang of crooks. Their frauds vaiy from -selling church or gans that have no existence to robbing a Western engineer who is wealtkey. In the course of their villainy they use the innocent clergyman’s daughter, who, it is said, to use the current Americanism, “as a decoy she is it.” With interesting supporting subjects it ranks as one of the best yet submitted by the management. To morrow night Miss Mary Pickford will appear in a five-act drama, entitle :* “Fauchon the Cricket,” and Saturday, by arrangement with J. C. Williamson Films Ltd. the record-breaking drama “Within the Law” will be shown.
