ON BOTH FRONTS. ENEMY DRIVEN OFF. LONDO.N October 21. A Roumanian communique reports:; — "VVe repulsed attacks on Goioasa, in the Trotus Valley, on the Carpathian front. We also dispersed infantry attacks in the Uzul Valley, and drove back the enemy to the frontier*. The enemy took the offensive on the whole front of the Dobrudja. We Repulsed him on the right flank and centre, and withdrew on the right wing towards Lingro. STUBBORN BATTLE. ON SOUTH RUSSIAN FRONT. ENEMY REPULSED WITH HEAVY LOSS. PETROGRAD, Oct, 21. A Russian communique reports a stubborn battle north of Kiselin, in the I Dniester sector. The enemy is violently attacking north of Kuropatnika and south of Sviestelniki. The enemy took the offensive south, of Dorna Watra, but was repulsed with heavy losses. A submarine sank two Turkish jsteamers in the Bosphomis rgeion. __~ ON MOUNT PASUBIO MORE FIERCE ATTACKS. ROME, October 21. An Italian communique reports: — Four massed attacks by the Kaiser Jager battalions on Mount Pasubio, in the Trentino tooth, were mown down. A German communique states:—We •wrested from the English the greater portion of the trenches they won on Wednesday, west of Eaucourtl'Abbaye, ; on the Lidarque Road. South-west of Swisteniki, on the west "bank of the Marajowka, on the southern Russian front, we stormed an important position, and took prisoner over 2000 men. Fighting continues on the Transylvanian frontier. There is increased activity in the Dobrudja. Enemy attacks failed in the Cerna salient on the Nidze Planina heights and south-west of Lake Doiran. FRENCH VIEW OF HOME RULE. LONDON, October 21. The Paris newspaper Le Temps, which favours Home Rule, says:. '-Despite the rebellion, Irish loyalty cannot be suspected, but must manifest itself in acts. Unless sh e takes a fain sharie of the common effort, Ireland will lose all chance of the liberties she claims. A sure way to compromise her claim to Home Rule is to appear a slacker.''
