Under this Act there is payable by every occupier of an orchard as on 30th September, 1916, a tax of Is. per acre or part of an acre, with a minimum of 2s 6d. The tax is imposed on all orchards, Irrespective of area, producing fruit for sale (including orchards planted for this purpose although not in bearing), is due on Ist 1 November, 1916. and is payable, without further demand, at any money-o:-der Post Office up to and including 22nd. November. 1916, after which date 10 per cent, additional will be charged. Further infomation can be obtained from the Director of the Horticulture Division, Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce, Wellington, or from any money-order Post Office. In compliance with the Regulationrunder the Orchard and Garden Diseas- , cs Act, made on 2nd October, 1916, as to the registration of orchards, every person growing one or more of the following trees —vi„ Apple, Pear, Quince, Peach, Nectarine, Plum, Cherry, Apricot, Nut, or Citrus tree, or Grape-vine, is required to make application not later than 26th October, 1916, fer the Registration of the property whereon such trees are growing. Registration is free of charge; the penalty for non-registration is a fine not exceeding £2O.
