A TAIHAPE BOY FALLEN.

Mrs. C. Smith, of Taihape, has just received a cable advising that her son, Herman Smith, -has been killed in action. Herman was Mrs. Smith's fourth son to join the fighting line from Taihape. Eric Smith, late of the Taihape Foundry, and Frank Smith, lately employed by Mr. Darvell, are still at the front, while Ralph is wounded, and is. in hospital in London. Herman, who has given his life for his country, was working for Mr. Mann, of Wainui, when he enlisted. Herman, Frank, and Eric took an interest in music, and were all members of the Taihape Municipal Band. A very large circle of friends will regret to learn of Herman's sad fate as he was an exceedingly popular young man. Mrs. Smith is staying with her daughter, Mrs. H.Marsh, of Taihape.
