N.Z. WOUNDED IN LONDON.
ENTERTAINED BY WAR CONTINGENT ASSOCIATION. SPEECHES BY MR. MASSEY AND SIR JOSEPH WARD. LONDON, Oct 15. The New Zealand War Contingent Association entertained many convalescents gathered from the -hospitals around London. The Hon. W. P. Massey and • Sir Joseph Ward were present, and conversed with the men. Mr Massey congratulated them on the good reputation they had earned on all hands, and on behalf of New Zealand he thanked them for performing their duty. He also expressed the grateful thanks of New Zealand to the women of London for the noble work they had done amongst the New Zealand wounded. Sir Joseph Ward, in supporting Mr. Massey, said he knew they would try to uphold New Zealand's honour and fight to the last. There could be no talk of any makeshift peace. Mr. Massey and Sir Joseph Ward visited New Zealand wounded at Chelsea. They will spend Sunday with the wounded at Brokelhurst hospital. ON THE STRUMA FRONT. GREAT BATTLE EXPECTED. LONDON, Oct 14. The "Petit Parisien" says: "We are apparently on the eve of a great battle on the Struma. The British have come in contact with the B'ulgai ians on a seventeen miles front from Jenimah to Seres. British patrols have already reconnoitred the enemy's position." TRIESTE .MENACED. AUSTRIAN NEWSPAPERS ANXIOUS. AMSTERDAM, Oct 13. . Vienna newspapers are increasingly anxious concerning the menace to Trieste, and report that the concentration of Italian warships is proceeding in the northern Adriatic. The official records, works of art, and the treasury -have been removed from Trieste to Vienna. BRITISH SHELLING SERES. ADVANCING TOWARDS SOFIA. IN CONTACT WITH ENEMY. LONDON, Oct 15. The War Office reports from Salonika we shelled Seres station and came in contact with the enemy on the railway southward of Seres.
