TAIHAPE PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Taihape District Patriotic Society was held last evening, there being present His Worship the Mayor (Mr. A. S. Arrowsmith), Messrs G. Wrightson, G. B'ray, D„..;Neagle, S. Powell, IW. Dixon, and L. S. Deacon hon secretary.
Leave of absence was granted to Father Connolly and W. A. James. The resignations of Messrs H. O'Cal laghan and J. G. jOldham were accepted with regret.
On the motion of W. Wrightson, sec onded by Mr. Bray, it was decided to donate £2O to the Ansae Club, Palmerston North, in consideration of the Taihape quotas of the various reinforcements, and also returned Taihape men being entertained there. Accounts amounting to .£3 12s were passed for payment.
A lengthy report from the Returned Soldiers' Committee, dealing with various grants to returned soldiers, was adopted. Under the new rules, made necessary by the incorporation of the Society, the election of an executive committee took place, the following beingelected: — Messrs A. L. Arrowsmlia and Deacon (ex-officio), and Messrs A. James, G. Wrightson, and G. Bray.
