LABOUR DAY PROCESSION.
A meeting of the Committee which is organising the Labour Day procession for the Red Cross funds was held, on Saturday night. Various reports from the sub-com-mittees were received, and everything' points to a very successful fiction. Mesdames and Boyd, and Mr. W. Dixon were anointed judges, and Mr. W. R. Emerson was appointed marshal. The following articles have been donated: —Two cushions, a smock, a doll, and bulldog. ( Mothers will be interested to learn that Mr. A. J. Johlin has presented a handsome silver cup as the prise lor the baby show, and it is anticipates that there will be great competition. Tickets, to count as votes, will be sold in this competition. Messrs Davies, Emerson, Munro and Todd were elected a sub-committee to arrange for holding competitions for motor-car driving, tilting at ring for motor-car occupants, and musical chairs for motor-cars. . The entry fee for each event will be Is, or for the three 2/6. There should be a number of entries, and as thesf the first competitions of the be held in the district they create great interest. A w T heelbarro J race is also to be held. 1 People are reminded that entries for the competitive classes in the procession close with Mr. A. J. Dinnison on Thursday next at 5 p.m. Further donations of £1 Is have been received from Messrs Davies and Emerson. Those who are willing to give sweets and cakes for the sweet-stall and afternoon tea stall are asked to leave the articles at the Red Cross Shop early on Monday morning. The procession will undoubtedly be a fine one, and the idea is being taken up by a large number with great enthusiasm.
