ANOTHER MAORI GIFT.
BEING DISCUSSED TO-DAY. TE NG ATI TAMA AND NGATtWHITI This afternoon a meeting of the Tai-' nape Natives of the "Ngatitama arid Ngatiwhiti tribes is being held, to discuss the question of presenting to the Government, for returned Maori Soldier Settlement, 20,000 acres of land in the Ohauko block, adjoining that given the other day by the Tuwharetoas. The proposal of our native friends is that Dr. Pomare shall be the medium of conveying the Ngatitama and Ngatiwhiti gift together with that from the Tuwharetoas In one gift, the land being all in one block. It is understood that Dr. Pomare will attend the meeting this afternoon, which is being held in Mr. Kingl Topia's residence on the Mataroa Road. The 20,000 acres in question is on Vie other side of Birch's and adjoining Mr. Donnelly's Mangaohane Station. The Taihape Natives express a strong desire to recognise in a practical form the great sacrifices Maori soldiers at the front are making for New Zealand.
