WANGANUI PRESBYTERY.

The Wanganui Presbytery met at Marton on Tuesday mornng. In the absence of the Moderator (the Rev. A. Doull,) the Eev. J. D. McKenzie was voted to the chair-. The Hon. J. G. W. Aitken was unanimously nominated as Moderator for the General Assembly for 1917.

Reports of Presbyterial visitation of the charges of Mangaweka and Taihape were given by the Rev. J. H. Bredon, who spoke in very high terms of the work carried out in the district by the Rev. J. McCaw. The work of the Rev. R. H. Catherwood was commended, and attention' was called to the increase of the number of communicants as the result of his labours. i.Thc Commissioners gave in their finding and the Rev. J. D. McKenzie was appointed to read it to the Taihape congregation.

A call was forwarded by the Wairarapa Presbytery to the Reverend R. H. Catherwood (of Taihape) to the charge of Featherston. The call was signed by all the members of the congregation save one. The Rev. J. McGregor, of Martinborough, was present to support the call on behalf of the Featherston, congregation. Mr Spence appeared to represent the congregation at Taihape. He also spoke of the high esteem in which Mr Catherwood was held by the session and congregation and residents of the district. The prospect of his leaving was viewed with very great regret. Mr| B. R. Login, elder at Utiku, Avrote expressing the warm feeling of the session towards Mr. Catherwood, and appreciation of the progress made by the charge during his ministry. The Rev. J. H. Bredon led the Presbytery in prayer, after which Mr. Catherwood accepted the call. The members of the Presbytery unanimously expressed their regret at tne prospect of losing from the membership one who is always friendly and helpful in the service.
