In an audience with the Pope, the Latin Bishop of Athens.expre_ssed the opinion that despite the King’s efforts Greece will soon be forced into the war. _ The Pope said he would.‘dceply regret such an extension of the conflict. LONDON, October 2. It is reported that the prolongation of the King’s hesitation is due to the fact that strong German forces have been despatchea against the Roumanians. ' The newspaper Neahimera states that the German Minister warned the Government _that German submarines would sink steamers conveying volunteers to Salonika. The Reservist League renewing activity cztuscd anti-Vcnizelist' disturbances at Nauplia and elsewhere. The members state,ill the event of the issue of a mobilisation decree, that they would communicate with the King. If ‘they find His Majesty is being coerced they would refuse to join the colours.
