Official. —Despatches received here state that the increasing arrival of large numbers of German children in Holland, because of the scarcity of food in Germany, is causing a fear of serious food shortage in Holland. Germany has strongly indicated that the prohibition of the entry of children into Holland will be regarded as an unneutral act, OVERSEA SOCIALISTS’ FOLLY WISE ADVICE BY HOME PARTY. LONDON, Sept. 28. The Nationalist Socialist party, in a manifesto to Socialists in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa, expresses surprise and regret ‘‘ to see in oversea Socialist- journals that a considerable number of Colonial Socialists believe that Britain ought not to participate in the war. This arrives from an entire misconception of the facts. We arc bound to fight aggressors desiring to dominate Europe and plac e smaller, natonalitics at the mercy of Prussian militarism. Had Germany won, democracy and Socialism would have been v thrown back more than a generation. 1 British capitalism strengthened by German militarism, is more dangerous still. When peac e comes, the workers will have a far greater chance of obtaining control in Britain than ever before. ‘Used to arms, and conscious of their power, it will be the people’s fault if they fail to overcome wage slavery.
