IRISH GIRL SERGEANT.
BRAVE HOSPITAL GIRL WHO FIGHTS FOR SERBIA. A young woman wearing the uniform of the Serbian infantry, tw® stars on her cuffs marking her as of sergeant’s rank, stepped on board of the boat for Salonika at ,Toulon recently, and after having gravely saluted the captain, said she was returning to rejoin her regiment. She is an Irishwoman, Miss Flora Sandes, who was in Serbia, at the outbreak of the war, and at once joinee a hospital, where she served until tne great retreat. When hospital service was no longer possible, she enlisted in the army, and took part in all tne fighting, including the heroic two months’ retreat to Durazzo, in which this brave woman was the lodestar of a handful of Serbian heroes. She obtained short leave, and visitLondon, and is now on her way back to take her place in the ranks of the reconstructed Serbian army.
