THE POISONER. At th e Town Hall on Tuesday next, Octoben 3rd, an . entirely new four-act American comedy drama will be presented by Mr A. L. Stevenson’s Eng. lish Dramatic Company, ‘‘The Poisoner” is the title of the play, which deals with a mystery of the West Indies, depicting in a vivid and intensely absorbing manner the triumph of science over criminality. The play is intensely dramatic, but it is interspersed’ with a strong vein of comedy throughout. The play shows how a problem of an unusually complex nature is confronting the wife, relatives and friends of Gen, Mark Lester. This famous soldier, who was by the w T ay, a hero of the Cuban Ten Years’ War, is being slowly poisoned by some unknown person or force. Nobody but his wife has entered the sick room, in wdiich Gen. Lester has lain since the first dread symptoms of a deadly poison appeared; and yet it has been proven, ap-, parently beyond doubt, that she could not have been the cluprit. The answer to the question, ‘ ‘ Who is the poisoner ? ’ ’ will be given at the presentation of the play on Tuesday night.
