A GERMAN COMMUNIQUE. LONDON, Sept. 25. A Gorman communique says: The Somme fighting is again in full swing. Allied attacks on Courcelette, Rancourt and Bouchavesnes failed. We downed aeroplanes, of which 20 were on the Somme t We lost nine. Fiv Russian mass attacks between the Sereth and the Strypa were beaten off. Roumanian attacks on Vulcan Pass were-repulsed. FRENCH REPORT ARTILLERY DUEL. PARIS, Sept. 25. A communique says: Nothing important occurred apart from an artillery duel south of the Somme and east of the Meuse. GOOD OMENS. GERMANS MOVING BACK. STILL READY TO FIGHT HARD. LONDON, Sept, 25. Mr Beach Thomas says the battle omens are unusually good. The Germans have withdrawn many guns to the extreme fire limit and lessened the bombardments. They also show nervousness in other ways. Counter-at-tacks are vehement, but they lack sting, whereas the British and Dominion troops charge with zest; but before the enemy leaves his last foothold he will wrestle for a heavy fall. Behind the machine gunner stands an officer, revolver in hand. The enemy finds it equally difficult to surrender or fight.
