FRENCH DEMONSTRATIONS.
There was a march past of the Allied troops in Paris on July 14. The British detachment was led by pipers of the Scots Guards, and spectators pelted them with flowers as, with, the Belgians and the Russians, they swung past. Sir Douglas Haig telegraphed to M. Poincare: “The British Army, fighting by the side of the bravo soldiers of France in the bitter struggle now proceeding, expresses on the occasion of this great anniversary its admiration of the results achieved by the French army and its unshaken confidence in the •speedy realisation of our common > . hopes.
