VOICES FROM THE FRONT.
THEY CONVEY THANKS
TO THE WOMEN’S WORKING CLUB.
Mr W. Sutton, writing from the north of France on August 6th, to Mrs Treadwell, of Taihape, says: “I received a parcel from the Women’s Working Club, Taihape, and thinking you might know something) about it, am taking the liberty ,of writing to you to thank them on my behalf. The New Zealand people don’t foilget the boys that are away, and we are not likely to forget New Zealand, for it is really “God’s Own Country.” I have been in the trenches, but have had a good time all through. I have had shells and bullets' flying around me pretty thick, but they have missed me up to the present, although a few of my mates have not been so fortunate. We are out for a spell at present, and everyone is in the best of humour. Convey my best wishes to the members of the Women’s Working Club, and tell all the boys to come along.”
The Editor of this journal yesterday received a post card from Mr. A. Gillatt, who. is with the forces “somewhere.” .The card states that he is quite well, that a letter will follow at first opportunity, and that he received the parcel sent. This card, in all probability should have been sent to the Secretary of the Women’s Working Club, by whom the parcel Mr. Gillatt refers to would most likely be sent. It is interesting to hear from the men that have gone from Taihape, and to know that they are still in the fighting line.
