ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES, SUICIDE.

DUNEDIN, Sept 5. An inquest was held concerning the death of Mrs Matilda Bardsley, of N.E. Valley, aged 70 years, who died at the hospital this morning. The evidence showed that her husband was proceeding to the back yard at 5.30 p.m. on Saturday, when he found the deceased sitting on a box with a cut in her throat She suffered from throat trouble, and had to sit up at night, owing to being unable to breathe when lying down. Medical evidence showed that the deceased had been mentally depressed by the dath of her son, who was killed in action. A verdict was returned that death was due to injuries self-inflicted, while th e deceased was in a depressed state of mind.
