A railway collision took place at Putaruru, on the Rotorua line on Monday evening. . The passenger train from Prankton dashed into a goods train. Luckily a long string of trucks saved the passengers from anything more serious than a severe jolting. The two engines met head on, and were considerably damaged, and some of the carriages were derailed and smashed_ A various assortment of merchandise was strewn over a large area.
