FIRING IN FLANDERS HEARD INENGLAND.
A paper by Messrs Miller. Christy and W. Marriott, read at the nicer m g of the Royal Meteorological 30c;.-ty, dealt with the audibility of firing hi Flanders in many parts of the southeast of England. They state mat some times three to twelve shots a in mute, each loud and distinct, were hoard. Usually, however the firing was much more rapid and less distinct. Although faint, it was quite unmistakable, and undoubtedly was the sound of fighting around Ypres, Dixmude or \rras.
