UPPER WANGAEHU ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the Upper Wangaehu Road Board was held on Wednesday morning Avhen there Avere present: Mesrs P. Pedersen (chairman), G. D. Goodrich, T. W. Williams, and T. Bradley. Formal correspondence Avas read and approved. Accounts amounting to £l2l 17s 4d Avere passed for payment.
It Avas decided to write to the Wanganui County Council and ascertain the manner in Avhich the country rate, collected in the Road Board district, is expended, and also to ascertain if the Board had power to make by-laws to regulate heavy traffic. The foreman (Mr E. J. Titter) report ed that the roads had cut up during the month, and there had been a feAv slips, especially in RangiAvaCa. The Aveather had been too rough to do any but maintenance'work'. The rooting up of the metal on the Opea Road had been completed, and a start had been, made on the road at Bennett’s Siding. About 55 chains of this road should bo done. Ho suggested that the Board should get 150 yards of Ohingaiti metal delivered at Mataroa for the Mataroa Road. The Kaimatangi and Owhakure Roads required attention as soon as the Aveather permitted, and a few extra hands should be put on during September to clear off the slips. The stringers for the Chvhakure bridge had yet ben obtained, as the. available had not yet been obtained, as the available men had been busy getting Avater off the roads and opening up slips.
