HIDE AND SKIN REPORT
DALGETY AND CO., LTD.
We have to report having held ?n|r special crutching salg in conjunction with our usual monthly skin and hide sale, etc., on Friday, the 25th instant. Our crutching sale comprised about 100 bales, also a large quantity of fadges and bags, etc. We also offered a full catalogue of skins, hides and sundries. A full attendance of buyers was present, and competition throughout was keen, especially for skins and ihdes, but owing to the absence of any demand from Japanese Houses, prices for crutchings, in sympathy with other leading markets in the Dominion, showed a considerable dtclino as compared with rates ruling at first crutchings sale's. Although it is verj" difficult to forecast the future market for crutchings, it is the general opinion that this class of wool will not again reach the exceptionally high level ruling earlier in the season, and rather than hold on and risk the market falling lower, wc thought, it advisable in clients’ interests to accept the prices offered. Skins hides, and tallow sold Avell up to last sale rates, and wo cleared the whole of our catalogue at very satisfactory prices. We quote: —
