TAIHAPE PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Taihape Patriotic Committee was held last evening, there Being present the Mayor (Mr A. L. Arrowsmith), Father Connolly, and Messrs G. Wrightson, D. Neagle, S. Powell and A. James Acknowledgment of the sum of £25, being the donation for August for Soldiers' Comforts, was received from the Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs. A large amount of formal correspondence inward and outward, were approved. The treasurer reported that the balance of the local Relief Fund stood in credit to th e amount of £37(5 5s J Id, and the Wounded Soldiers' Fund in credit to the amount of £11,024 4s 7d. Amendments to the rules were discussed and adopted. The Returned Soldiers' Sub-Com-mittee submitted a detailed report of the assistance being granted to returned men and their dependents, and the report was adopted,
