CHRISTCHURCH, This day,

Hearing of a claim for £IOOO for alleged libel by Ernest James Smith, of Greymouth, against William McKay, draper of Greymouth, for remarks made in an anonymous letter, commea ced in the Supreme Court to-day before Mr Justice Denniston. The case had previously been heard in Greymouth before Mr Justice Sim and a jury which disagreed. Owing to the indisposition of Mr Hannan, counsel for plaintiff the case was adjourned till to-morrow.
