PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that, under the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, I9oS,’’ “The Rating Act, 1908,” and “The Local Bodies Act, 1908, ” and the amendments thereof respectively, and all other powers and authorities it thereunto enabling, it is the intention of the Taihape Borough Council, at a SPECIAL MEETING, to be held in the Council Chambers, Town Hall, Tail nape, on THURSDAY, the 31st day of August, 1916, at 12 o’clock noon, to make and levy the following rates for the year commencing on the Ist day of April, 1916, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1917. —

CENTRAL RATE of one penny and a farthing (Lid) in the £ on the rateable value of all rate, able property within the Borough of Taihape. A LIGHTING RATE of one.eighth or a penny (LSd) in the pound on the rateable property within the Borough of Taihape. A W ATER RATE, under the provi. sions of ' Section S 3 of the Municipal Corporations Act, .1908 ” and its amendments, on all rateable property within the Taihape " Water Supply Rating District, and all property out'side such district situated within one hundred yards from any part of the Waterworks. Hi addition to the above, the Council proposes to levy the following Special Rates for payment of Interest and Sinking Fund, on the under mentioned loans:— Loan of £(1000 (Streets and Footpaths Improvement), a rate of one farthing (Id) in the £.
