ALLEN DOONE COMPANY.
Irishmen have established themselves on the tree of success : everywhere. In America and the Empire’s overseas Dominions they are right to the forefront. As distinguished actors and leaders of vocal and histron'ic art they are right in the forefront. Grattan Riggs, under the old triumvirate, Williamson, Garner and Musgrove achieved notable successes throughout Australasia. Andrew Mack, who came later and upheld Ireland’s stage portion, won fame and renown under .1. G. management, with the result that his name is still revered by local playgoers . everywhere. Evolution proceeds ever, and as a consequence it was necessary that the void created by the absence of these two distinguished artists should be filled by someone worthy of ar least equal recognition, and so it came to pass that Allen Doone, who came to our shores a young Irish Australian, practically unheralded and unknown, achieved a magnetic success by his ability, his intellectuality and versatility. His voice alone endears him to | playgoers, for it is timeful and melo- I d'ious, and the musical compositions j being created by himself are naturally j arranged in accordance with the de- | sire of their own manufacturer, Mr ! Doone himself. The company will ap- i pear at the Town Hall, Taihape, on Wednesday night next, the 23rd ins;, in one of his most successful plays, viz., “Molly Bawn.” The plans are at Finch’s Bazaar.
