PRESBYTERIAN ANNUAL MEETING.
SUCCESSFUL YEAR’S WORK. ..Last night the Annual Meeting of the Taihape Presbyterian community was held in the Church Hall, in Huia Street, at which there was, considering the weather, a good and representative attendance. The meeting was presided over by the Rev. R. H Catherwood, Mr A. Munro, Session Clerk, also having a seat at the table. The first part of the meeting was given entirely to business, when the Managers’ Report was read b yMr A Spence, secretary; the Sunday School Report; the Presbyterian Womens’ Missionary Union Report; Young Women’s Bible Class Report; while the Kirk Session Report was read by the Session Clerk. All reports went to show that all organisations were in a fairly healthy condition, while the carefully-prepared bal-ance-sheet, read by Mr D. Scott, the Church Trasurer, disclosed the year’s operations resulted in a credit balance, not very large, but distinctly encouraging. The various reports and the balance-sheet were listened to with great interest, and met with considerable applanse > During the year two military hospital beds has been equipped, funds for buying the necessary material being contributed by Presbyterian congregations.
The Chairman commented upon the excellence of the reports, and expressed gratification at the results achieved. After all business documents had been formally disposed of a short musical 1 programme was given, in which Mrs 8. Peyton was easily the outstanding contributor, her opening organ solo being admirably played. Songs were rendered by Mr W. J. Dinnison and Air AY. Morton, and a double trio, “Ye Shepherds Tell Ale, : ’ was sung by members .of the choir: but the item singled out •for the only gneoro given was a flute (sola by Mr ILi La-tour, accompanied on ‘ the piano by Mrs Peyton. Liberal refreshments were provided by the ladies of tho congregation, and were highly appreciated.
