STARTLING RUMOURS.

A LIEUTENANT DEAD. The Wellington correspon lent of the Manawatu Times states that startling rumours are current about sickness at Trentham Camp, but when he saw Colonel Gibbon yesterday he was assured that General Henderson’s statement covered the whole ground. There is reason to fear that the authorities are holding back some of Die facts. They have not, for instance, announced the death of Lieutenant Richard St Hill, only son of Mr Harry St Hill, of Porangahau, Hawke’s Bay, which was announced through private sources yesterday. Lieutenant St Hill had been in camp only a fortnight, and succumbed to meningitis. He was married recently .to Miss Gordon, of Hawke’s Bay.
