AUCKLAND, July 31. Counsel for the defence conclude.-j his address to trie jury in the Rua trial to-day The Hon. Tole commenced his address for the prosecution. Mr Tole commented upon the length of the case, which he said was out of proportion to the questions involved. In regard to the shooting! at Maungaponatu no injury was dene to any native until four policemen were wounded. Analysing the evidence of witnesses for the defence, Mr Tole asked w-hat reliability- there was to be placed on it. A witness had expressed the opinion on oath that, all the police told falsehoods, were inhuman murderers, ana very bad men. - ; The hearing was adjourned.
