SPECIAL CONSTABLE’S BLACKMAIL.
On two blackmailing charges, Henry Rosen f eld, t a young special constable living in Terrace Place, Stepney, was at the Thames Court sent to prison for three months. Mr Knight, prose-
cuting, said Dosenfeld was sworn in in March. On April he told Mr Harris Cohen, a shopkeeper in Commercial Road, that he had too much light and would be summoned. Later on he again called and said “I am sorry you are going to have trouble, but I think I can do something for you. Our Inpector likes money, and if you give me a quid it will be all right. ’ ’ Cohen offered ss, which the man took. Rosenfeld made another visit, and gave Mr Cohen a letter “from headquarters, Leman Street,” asking for a loan of £5 for “Inspector Fickly. ” In point of fact, there was no inspector of that iame, and it was clearly a blackmailing case. Chief Detective-Inspector stated that the cases did not stand alone. H e knew of others in which Rosen fold Rad obtained money from tradesmen under similar circumstances.
