MURDER AT TE KUITI

TfWO MEN SHOT. ON ROLLISTON'S STATION. BY A RARATONGAN. TE KUTTI, This day. Two men working on Rolliston's sheep farm, 17 miles from Mangapehi, were yesterday shot by a Raratongan named Tui Kaimuku. Kenneth Wingstone, shepherd, was killed, and Charles Frederick Macfarlane, toe manager, was wounded. The men were working at a fence when they observed their whare on fire. Investigation showed the whare was broken into and deliberately fired. They looked for the culprit in the bush where the Raratongan shot Livingstone, who fell. The second shot hit Macfarlane, who ran for help; three other shots hit Macfarlane before the Raratongan gave up the chase. Upon help being obtained it was found that Livingstone's body had been dragged into the bush and another shot put through his head. The murderer, who lives seven miles from Rolleston's, rode thither, and alter committing the crime, shot his own horse, caught another, and rode it away. Macfarlane, who is badly hurt, was taken to Hamilton Hospital. All the police in the district went in search of the murderer last night, and arrested aim early-this morning. He will arrive in. Te Kuiti to-night.
