BRITAIN’S WAR BURDEN

LONDON July 25. In the House of Commons Mr Asquith moved a credit of 450 millions. The expenditure between April Ist and July 22nd was 559 millions. We had 41 millions in hand. The Army and Navy and munitions cost 379 millions, loan to Allies 157 millions food supplies and railways 23 millions. The average daily expenditure on the war was £4,950,000. He hoped the Army and Navy expenditure would in the future not exceed the present level. On the basis of fiv c millions daily the present vote would last to the end of October.
