The Rt. Hon. W. P. Massey replied that the Government did not intend to ask the public to observe August 4th as a public holiday, but they were communicating with the Mayors of cities and boroughs and the chairmen of county councils and other local bodies, asking them to convene meetings and to pass resolutions similar to those passed last year. That was being done in accordance with the wishes expressed throughout by the Imperial authorities.
