THE PRICE OF BREAD.
(To the Editor)
Sir, —I have only recently come into the district from Wanganui, and a matter that two or three of your correspondents have drawn attention to is one that, I think should -have some
comment from your pen, as it is generally understood the people’s newspaper has become the guardian of the people’s cause in all British communities. Where I came from, only a few ■weeks ago. I -was paying threepence over the counter for. a two pound loaf of bread, and you may guess that I was surprised to find that in Taihape the cost of the staff of life for my family had nearly doubled, and cash iu advance at that. Bread at fivepence for a two pound loaf is little short of robbery, antf although the people here are not ppch v< cf , a ; song ; about it, they must have formed their own. opinions. about ~the, ypen y whp ; the* bread.' ~
I am, etc. HONESTLY.-
